For me, 2012 has been a year of growth and understanding, which I guess is all about growing up. I am beginning think much more beyond college and look at the big picture of things. I just finished up the Fall quarter at school and am almost done with winter break as we head back to school next week for the start of 2013. I am proud to say that I am a newly elected Board of Directors member for the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council starting this week, and looking forward to getting to work on this great year. Managing my busy, college lifestyle is an ever revolving challenge but I am enjoying every minute of it!

For school, I had a great, albeit busy, end of sophomore & beginning of my junior year at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA. Finally I am working my way into my more intensive business & marketing classes which will help me throughout my career. I am maintaining a 3.3 cumulative GPA, even with my extremely busy extracurricular schedule. I am also on track to graduate with a communications and economics minor. I have had an amazing experience with my first quarter of work with Eagle Entertainment, as an event coordinator I help host great concerts, comedians, and speakers on campus. I get to give back to my campus and use my marketing skills to make EWU a better place to go to school. I was hired after our EWU Sportsman's Club ran the most successful country music-dance event ever held on at the EWU Campus. I can't wait for the events we have scheduled this year, along with the relationship I built with the local country radio station, 93.7FM The Mountain.

Our EWU Sportsman's Club I founded when I was a freshman is becoming one of the most active and popular organizations on campus. We grew from 25 students last year to an astounding 70 students in membership this year. We are extremely active on campus, and out in the community. We participate in the FLW College Fishing Series and the B.A.S.S College Bass Tournaments. This year we sent both our teams to the regional championship at Utah Lake, in which we finished in 15th & 16th place. The event was nationally televised on NBC Sports in November and is re-run regularly. We also take part in community service activities such as the WDFW Kid's Fishing Event, Ronald McDonald House, and the TurnBull Wildlife Refuge Planting Projects. Along with our involvement in giving back, we also are very active in the sporting community taking part in Big Horn Outdoor Show, selling raffle tickets and used Lamiglas Rods fundraising almost $4,000 for our club. A huge "Thank You" goes out to all the sponsors who donated to our raffle! Being the one and only collegiate Sportsman's Club and Bass Team in the state of Washington we are out in the community spreading our word about the popular collegiate fishing series.

Our club has spent this past fall quarter working ball crew for the EWU Football team as they reached the FCS 1-AA Semi-Finals! We also have been doing a ton of hunting and getting new students into the outdoors as we have orchestrated a few first bucks and plenty of first geese. Our mission is to get more college students involved in the outdoors. We look forward to another amazing year growing our club, spreading our love of the outdoors, and competing across the nation!

As for personal promotions I have once again been busy this year keeping up with rigors of school and making the best of my time to support and promote my awesome sponsors. This year I will be returning to the "Warmwater Demo Tank" at the Washington Sportsman's Show later this month, along with working at all my various sponsor booths throughout the show that annually draws over 75,000 people. I also will once again work the entire Big Horn Outdoor Show in Spokane, WA including a seminar series throughout the week. I really enjoyed seminars this past year as I was blessed to have great audiences and be able to spread the word of bass fishing in the Pacific Northwest. With the new Cabela's store opening up in Marysville, WA I spent a day with the Fishing/Marine Department employees conducting product training on Rapala USA products and informing the mostly Salmon-Steelhead oriented staff about the warmwater opportunities around the area. I will also be conducting seminars at the Spokane Boat Show, and the Cabela's Fishing Classic events. A new event this year is a Bass-A-Thon style event at Spokane Valley Marine in which I will also be working. I love working trade shows and meeting the outdoors community and 2013 is looking to be a good one!

Publication wise I am writing articles for Bass West USA, Bass Angler Magazine, California Sportsman's Magazine, Gary Yamamoto's Inside Line, and preparing a weekly Potholes area fishing report for news media outlets across Washington. I was fortunate to be featured in Rapala's fish picture contest and had my picture in the May issue of Bassmaster Magazine, holding up a 7lb. Largemouth caught on my favorite Rapala DT Thug. On the internet I am active on the online fishing communities, posting reports on WashingtonLakes.com & FishHound.com. I am planning to come out with some more of my own YouTube videos displaying my sponsor's products, but by far my most popular video is on "Pitching & Flipping Basics" with over 60,000 views so far on YouTube! It is one of the most popular pitching instructional videos on YouTube. I just purchased a new camcorder and can't wait to begin to make more videos. I am also extremely active on social media Facebook with fishing updates, photo sharing and such. Many of you have probably seen my Facebook activity recently, if not please look me up and add me. I have been extremely lucky to have a small internship with Joel Shangle, the host of the NW Wild Country radio show in Seattle to get a hands on learning experience in radio, look for me to be on the radio more often this year! Lastly, my refurbished website www.NickBarrFishing.com is up and running, it is still under construction but coming along nicely!

Lastly, I am narrowing down the tournaments I fish and spending more time on them as my schedule, and monetary situation with school, makes me plan my year much more efficiently. The College Fishing Series this year has been a great success! I spent this year fishing with a different partner for every one of the four events, in which most of them were salmon-steelhead anglers I convinced to try a bass tournament, which definitely presented more than a few unique challenges. My partner Jesse Squires and I finished 4th Place at Lake Havasu, and 15th at the College Fishing Regional Championship in Utah. My new partner Jarred Walker and I are extremely excited for the 2013 season and looking forward to the new B.A.S.S College Tournament coming to the west coast. I also fished my first B.A.S.S Federation Divisional this year in Wyoming, and hoping to fish in many more. Locally this upcoming season I will be a regular on the federation level, American Bass, and the Northwest Bass Circuits. My goal this year is to make it to the national championships on the collegiate level.

I was blessed to work & live again this summer at MarDon Resort on Potholes Reservoir and run my fishing guide service, Washington Bass Adventures. I manage the marketing for the resort during the summer and it gives me an invaluable experience to put my marketing skills to work in the family business environment that relies so much on the outdoors. The Meseberg family is truly amazing and a joy to be able to work for. As for guiding, I have been lucky this year to have a ton of family trips, it gives me no better joy to introduce and get a child hooked on fishing!

The EWU Sportsman's Club is looking for donations for our 2013 Raffle and Silent Auction at the Big Horn Outdoor Show in Spokane, WA. Your donation helps fund our clubs activities and in return you receive advertising with our club and at the show, plus it's a tax deductible donation. Attached is the donation letter with our tax ID included. Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated, as its vital to the success of our club!

I am looking for business internships for the summer of 2013 and/or full time positions that may be opening up once I am out of school. I want to gain real world experience and am willing to learn. If you know of any internships or jobs available, please let me know!

Personally, this year has been absolutely amazing. I got to fish big time events and expand my marketing reach. My girlfriend and I shot our first bucks, my friends and I have dove head first into Goose hunting. Being able to spend time with my amazing family, friends, and girlfriend has brought me great joy. All these experiences have kept me extremely busy, and have made my college years absolutely incredible so far.

As I begin the downhill trek of my college adventure I am truly blessed to have the support of a great family, girlfriend, and sponsors to help me share my love of fishing with the Pacific Northwest and compete across the West Coast.  I would like to thank all my sponsors for their ongoing support; I could not do it without your help. Remember to follow me on Facebook at Facebook.com/NickBarrFishing and my website www.NickBarrFishing.com.  I look forward to an exciting 2013!

God Bless & Tight Lines Everyone!
